The joke is that Annie didn’t learn how to finish a joke. When Annie says “The professor was so old” that basically a set up to the joke. But because she quit the class after the set-ups lesson she doesn’t get to the punch line. That’s why Jeff, Pierce and Troy look at her, they’re waiting for the punch line.
